In order to be considered for the Hongkong Prize, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Candidates must be less than 50 at the time of application. The age limit can be extended for exceptional candidates. The candidates must have a background in research or development. They must have published a scientific article in the past 10 years. The article should make an impactful statement on society. Prospective or retrospective clinical studies, observational or epidemiological articles are eligible, but meta-analyses and review articles are not.
The first place winner will get a cash prize of HK$500,000, while the second and third places will win HK$200,000 and HK$100,000. The winners of the four remaining categories will each win HK$10,000. The award winners will be announced on October 18. Last year, the HK prize for cultural heritage was awarded to an ancient tomb discovered in Guangdong by archaeologists from UC Berkeley. In addition to the monetary reward, the prize includes a plaque and a commemorative medal. In addition, the winners will also be invited to present their work at the Hongkong Museum of Contemporary Art and to share their ideas with fellow researchers.
